Julie
Maddocks
Julie Maddocks has been
painting on china for more than 15 years and has been studying
drawing and painting at the Brisbane Academy of Arts for several
years, receiving honours for her work.
She is a member of the Teachers Institute of Porcelain Art
and a former president of Queensland Porcelain Artists Inc. Julie
has won numerous prizes for her work which has also been featured
in the Queensland Porcelain Artists Inc Sketch Book and the Australian
Porcelain Decorator magazine.
Born in Victoria, Julie moved to Queensland after her marriage
in 1981and was introduced to china painting on a social basis.
In 1984, her husbands work took the couple to the USA where
Julie undertook formal art classes at the University of Clovis,
New Mexico.
After two years, Julie and her husband returned to Australia to
start a family. As well as her talent for china painting, Julie
is also a gliding instructor with the Boonah Gliding Club. The
Maddocks live in Ipswich but have bought a property near the Boonah
Airfield, travelling here most weekends to enjoy the sport of
gliding.
Julie continues to teach and demonstrate the art of china painting
and to paint the Australian landscape.
