fleurwade_sml.jpg Fleur Wade
Winner of the Oils & Acrylics section of the 2006 Scenic Rim Art Prize, Fleur is a recent arrival to the Boonah district, taking up residence in Kalbar in 2003. After growing up in Brisbane, she has lived more recently in the Maleny hinterland. Fleur’s artistic endeavours include works in colour pencils, acrylics, watercolour, mixed media and clay work.
She won her first art prize in 1990 at the Redcliffe Spring Art Exhibition where she received the Peter Houston Encouragement Award for a watercolour and acrylic work, titled "Sandy Ridge".
In 1993, she again entered the Redcliffe exhibition and received a commended award for an abstract work in watercolour and Japanese handmade papers. Fleur has also exhibited at Kingaroy and spent a semester giving art lessons to students at Landsborough Primary School.
Fleur’s other interests include music and she is an accomplished singer, guitarist and song writer.
Fleur is passionate about the mountains around Boonah and her bushwalking in these areas provides the inspiration for many of her artworks.
