selfportrait_sml.jpg  Dany Weus
Born in France, Dany’s life has been shaped by his passion for adventure and his attraction to all forms of art - from dance and music to film, photography and painting. He is a creative thinker and an adventurer who has always dared to follow his dreams. He is represented internationally by the Galerie du Marais situated in the historic Place des Vosges, Paris, where a number of his works are currently on display.
He emigrated to Australia in 1974 and has worked as a photographer with the "Northwest Star" newspaper in Mt Isa, the "Sunday Sun" and "The Australian" bureau in Brisbane, the "Sydney Telegraph", and the "Gold Coast Bulletin" as well as freelancing for a number of national magazines.
Dany and his journalist wife, Vivienne, sailed around the world for five years from 1983 to 1988, stopping to work in Paris and Tahiti en route.
A professional photographer by trade, Dany has won national recognition for both his photography work and his oil paintings. In 1999, he was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Wynne Prize for Landscapes run in conjunction with the annual Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Dany is represented in the Ipswich City art collection with his portrait of Australia’s first Aboriginal Senator, the late Neville Bonner.
