Patena Moesker
Patena Moesker is an exhibiting artist and a teacher of art,
craft and design. She uses a variety of media to create her highly-decorative
and vibrant art works.
Patena has a Bachelor of Art Education and has been
exhibiting and selling her works for more than 20 years. In the mid 1990s, she
lived and taught in Alice Springs, implementing the art curriculum for students
in Grades 7 to 12.
Her successful "Todd to Teviot" solo exhibition at the
Boonah Regional Gallery in 2001 featured works inspired by the landscapes from
the Todd River near Alice Springs to Teviot Brook in Boonah Shire.
For her
latest range of works, Patena has found inspiration in Boonah Shire’s landmark
mountains. Mt French, Mt Barney and Mt Sugarloaf feature in the series of
brightly-coloured, beautifully hand-painted lino prints. "Living in Boonah,
these mountains are part of our daily lives and I wanted to create a series of
works that reflected their distinctive shapes and the character they give to the
area," said Patena, who has lived and studied in the USA and travelled in India
and the UK.
She continues to broaden the scope of her artistic practice by
attending courses and workshops. She currently teaches drama/art at Boonah High
School.
